  1. Use the calligraphy practice sheet to practice writing the characters introduced in this lesson. Fill-in the empty columns with characters of your choosing.
    As an alternative you may write one complete Chinese sentence in pinyin or characters for each character introduced in lesson 6.

  1. 自我介绍 Introduce Yourself: Self Introduction: Should include name, family, studying experience, likes and dislikes and something unique about yourself. Please include a picture as well.
    Be sure to include as much vocabulary from previous lessons as you can. Submit your paper in class.

  2. Review Lesson 1-5: Review Lesson 1-5 and make sure you are comfortable with the vocabulary and grammar covered in those chapters. You can refer to the IC Vocabulary by Lesson sheet.

  3. Chinese Character Challenge Activity: In this activity students will review the basic vocabulary for lessons 1-5. All students will demonstrate they know the target vocabulary by completing the activity a designated number of times. Target 2 times in under 2 minutes, 3 times in under 3 minutes, or 4 in under 4.

3. Classroom Activities:
  1. Introduce Yourself and Others Review - Students work on their own self introduction. Each introduction should include name, family, studying Chinese experience, likes and dislikes and something unique about themselves. Students then work in pairs introducing themselves. Finally students introduce their partner to the rest of the class.

  2. Calendar Questionnaire - Students work in groups to answer questions on the calendar questionnaire. Additionally each group asks one of their own similar date/time related questions to their classmates.

  3. Question Round-robin - Students divide into two teams. Members of each team count off one-by-one. The first student asks the second a review question, the second asks the third, the third the fourth, and so on. The last student asks the first. The first team to reach the end wins the game. Work front to back then from back to front. Questions: 那你今年多大?你的生日是几月几号?你喝咖啡还是喝茶?你在那兒喝?

  8. Table Building Vocabulary Practice - In the Table Building Vocabulary Practice for lesson 6-1 students will demonstrate a knowledge of the basic vocabulary for this lesson.

  11. Group Writing-Speaking Activity - In small groups students take the verb-object combinations below and write sentences with a benefactor--do the verb-object for a person. Groups then share their examples with the class.

  12. Daily Panner Activity - Use a daily planner. First look at Xiao Gao's (workbook p11) and answer questions about his week. Then fill in your activities for the week. Ask a partner about their plans for the week. Report results to the class.

  13. Listening Comprehension Activity - Demonstrate that you understand the new vocabulary by discussing the video and other dialogues from the lesson. Write questions about one of the dialogues for the other groups to answer.
