3. Classroom Activities:
  1. Vocabulary Round Robin - Split class into two groups. The first student in each group asks the second, the second asks the third, the third the fourth, and so on. The last student asks the first. The first team to reach the end wins the game. The questioner should ask a question using at least one new vocabulary item.

  2. Chinese Poetry Challenge - In small groups students take the Chinese Poetry Challenge: Write a poem in the Jueju [絕句] style of four lines, five characters per line incorporating at least four measure words. Use the example:
    一去二三里 (Yí qù èr sān lǐ. )
    烟村四五家。(Yāncūn sì wǔ jiā。)
    亭台六七座,(Tínɡtái liù qī zuò,)
    八九十枝花。(Bā jiǔ shí zhī huā。)

  7. Unscramble the Dialogue - Students unscramble the sentences from a dialogue covering Chinese language learning experiences. After unscrambling the sentences then assemble the sentences into a coherent dialogue. Groups volunteer to read aloud the sentences in the right order.
